Neighborhood Watch Update
The Neighborhood Watch Committee forwards the following crime report from the Montgomery County Police:
On Friday 3/18, Brittany Norwood (B/F, 28) was arrested for the homicide that occurred at the Lululemon Athletica store on Bethesda Avenue (D2). The suspect was originally thought to be a second victim, but evidence revealed otherwise.
- While not necessarily related to one another, five residential daytime burglaries (or attempts) occurred this week in various beats. No suspects were seen. Refer to the beat summaries below for details.
- Residential burglaries: Two incidents occurred this week; while both occurred during the daytime hours in the Chevy Chase area, it is unknown if they are related.
3700 block of Williams Lane. On Wednesday 3/16 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., the door was pried, damaging the door. Multiple rooms were ransacked & two iPods were taken.
- 3400 block of Cummings Lane. On Monday 3/21 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., entry was gained into an upstairs apartment area via a forced door. The victim returned home and found his dog locked inside the bedroom area and then noticed the shattered door frame. Two laptops were reported taken.
- Stolen vehicle: 8600 block of 16th Street. Sometime overnight from Friday 3/18 to Saturday 3/19, the victim reported her ’06 Honda Civic (MD Tags/705BMK) missing from the residential parking lot. The victim’s purse had previously been stolen and the keys to her vehicle had been inside that purse. Credit cards (also from the purse) were reportedly used by a H/F; it is unknown if that is the same person who took the victim’s vehicle.
