With the advent of warmer weather, thefts from autos and stolen vehicles have increased in the area. Today the Montgomery County Police issued the following advisory:

2nd District / Bethesda – April 19, 2011

THEFT FROM AUTOS and STOLEN VEHICLES

We would like to remind all residents to be vigilant about removing valuables from their vehicles and then locking the vehicle.

Since late March we are seeing an up tick in the incidence of thefts from autos and stolen autos in the 2nd District / Bethesda. Some vehicles have been broken into, but others were left unlocked with valuables such as laptops visible in the passenger compartments.

This activity is not confined to a single area, but rather is sporadic and wide spread. Please consider using outdoor lighting during the overnight hours.

With the advent of warmer weather more individuals will be out and about and we would encourage the reporting of allsuspicious activity to our non-emergencyline which is: 301 279-8000. *Please use 911 to report a crime in progress*
