*Foreign Film– Saturday, February 4 at 1:00 p.m. “King of Masks” — a Chinese mask maker who wants his art to endure takes on a destitute child as an apprentice.
*Library Lovers’ Events – Saturday, February 11. Valentine making, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Comedy-Magic Show with Tom Lilly of the One Step Magic Company (all ages) 10:30 a.m.; Teen Book Club, 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. (pre-registration is required-see separate notice below); Teen Balloon Sculpting Workshop with Tom Lilly, 1:30 p.m., pre-registration is required—stop by the reference desk or call 240-773-9590. Participants will learn how to create several different balloon sculptures and will receive a set of materials to take home for additional practice.
Preschool storytime–Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., February 7 and 14 (ages 2-6)
Bilingual storytime— with Senora Lupe Marks, Tuesday, February 21, at 10:30 a.m. (ages 2-6)

Tax Preparation Assistance—
For seniors and those meeting low and middle income requirements. RSVP and AARP volunteers will help with filing basic income tax returns. You must schedule an appointment by calling 240-777-2577 beginning February 1, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
*Book Groups–For events below, please get copies of the books from the Montgomery County Library System either directly or through holds. Articles are at the reference desk.
*Non-fiction Book Group – Wednesday, February 8, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The group will discuss The Age of Wonder: How the Romantic Generation Discovered the Beauty and Terror of Science by Richard Holmes.
*Teen Book Club — Saturday, February 11, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. The Giver by Lois Lowry. Pizza for lunch. Open to all readers grades 7 and up. Registration required: please either call the library (240-773-9590) or stop by the Information Desk to sign up. The library will have a few copies of each month’s book available at the Information Desk at the beginning of each month. Once all copies are checked out, teens are responsible for placing a hold and getting a copy in time for the meeting.
*Jefferson Café – Friday, February 17, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The group will discuss the article “What Is a Tree Worth?” by Jill Jonnes for The Wilson Quarterly. Copies of the article are at the reference desk.
*Fiction, Memoir, and Biography Book Group – Wednesday, February 22, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The group will discuss Consequences by Penelope Lively.
