BCC Middle School Site Selection Update

The final meeting of the BCC Middle School #2 site selection advisory committee (SSAC) was held on 2/22. Two sites were recommended to Superintendent Starr — Rock Creek Hills Local Park and North Chevy Chase Local Park.  SSAC members rated each site according to how each member believes the site conforms to MCPS criteria.  Rock Creek Hills received 130 points.  North Chevy Chase Local Park received 28 points.  See the below schedule for next steps.

Next Steps

March 1 – Draft SSAC report distributed to SSAC members for review and comment.

March 8 – SSAC member comments on draft report due; SSAC member minority reports due. 

March 12 – Final SSAC report sent to superintendent and Board of Education members (as well as e-mailed out to SSAC members.) 

March 15 – Briefing on SSAC report and site recommendations to Planning Board. 

March 12 to 26 – Public comment period on SSAC report and site recommendations.

March 30 – Superintendent’s recommendation for B-CC MS #2 site sent to BOE and released publicly. 

April 12 – (Morning) Planning Board mandatory referral review of SSAC report and site recommendations; (Afternoon) Board of Education action on site for B-CC MS #2.
