MEMBER UPDATE – May 2012
RCA’s mission focuses on three complementary priorities: advocacy, community, and communication. Please plan to attend our annual meeting at 6:45 p.m., on Tuesday, May 22nd, to learn more about our recent activities. Below is a short summary of some of RCA’s activities over the past year:
Chevy Chase Lake – Worked with neighboring communities on issues of common concern related to proposed redevelopment of Chevy Chase Lake.
Electric Reliability – Convened neighborhood meeting with Pepco representatives and established neighborhood liaisons to coordinate on reliability and service matters.
BCC Middle School #2 – Represented RCA on the Site Selection Advisory Committee. East-West Highway Pedestrian Traffic Light – Supported neighborhood efforts to pursue a traffic light on E-W Highway near Rocton Avenue/Brookville Road.
Public Safety – Coordinated Neighborhood Watch Program; met with new police commander in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase district.
E6 Bus Service – Collaborated with neighboring communities to save the E6 Metrobus from proposed elimination.
RideOn Bus Service – Collaborated with neighboring communities on modifications toRideOn service.
Chevy Chase Village Post Office – Collaborated with neighboring communities to save the post office from proposed elimination.
Picnic in the Park – Organized annual neighborhood barbecue/potluck dinner.
Halloween Party – Hosted annual Halloween party at the Rollingwood school – a favorite of our youngest residents!
Welcome Sign Project – Developed design options for neighborhood signs identifying the Rollingwood community.
Washington Post Profile – Secured a profile on Rollingwood in the Washington Post real estate section in May 2011.
Neighborhood Watch – Through the Neighborhood Watch Program, communicated critical public safety information, including time sensitive alerts.
RCA Website – Continued to publish timely information on RCA’s website, and made numerous enhancements and upgrades.
Electronic Newsletters – Published numerous newsletters covering RCA activities and important community information.
