We have learned that Planning Board staff will soon release a draft proposal for the Chevy Chase Lake Sector Plan. Once adopted by the Planning Board and County Council, the Sector Plan will serve as the blueprint for redevelopment of the Chevy Chase Lake area. This is an important development project that will have significant impacts on Rollingwood and the greater Chevy Chase community.
The staff draft will be presented to the Planning Board on July 16th. Prior to this date, the Staff Draft Sector Plan will be available online on the Sector Plan website: http://montgomeryplanning.org/community/chevychaselake/. Although the meeting will take place during working hours, the public is encouraged to attend the meeting on the 16th to demonstrate community interest in this project. We will inform you of the details when available.
A public hearing will be scheduled for a later date prior to Planning Board action on the draft plan. Once the Planning Board approves a final Sector Plan, it must then go to the County Council which will hold additional public hearings. Some key dates are below. We will keep you informed as this process continues.
June 19: Elza Hisel-McCoy from the Planning Department will be making a presentation to the community at the Chevy Chase Village. At that meeting, there will also be a discussion of changes being proposed to the County’s Zoning Laws that you should be aware of.
