*Foreign Film Series, Saturday, December 1, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. THE DINNER GAME. In this 1998 French comedy (Le Dîner de Cons, literally Dinner of Fools), a wealthy editor and his friends each invite people to dinner for the purpose of making fun of them. But at one dinner, a guest causes a few problems.
*Teen Book Discussion, Saturday, December 8, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. This month’s book is THE OUTSIDERS by S.E. Hinton. Open to all readers grades 7 and up. Registration is required; please either call the library (240-773-9590) or stop by the Information Desk to sign up. The library will have a few copies of the book or audiobook available at the Information Desk at the beginning of each month. Once all copies are checked out, teens are responsible for placing a hold and getting a copy on their own (see a librarian for help).
*Chevy Chase Library–Fiction Book Discussion, Wednesday, December 19, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The group will discuss THE CELLIST OF SARAJEVO by Steven Galloway (the 2012 One Maryland One Book pick). Everyone is welcome! Participants can obtain a copy of the book from the MCPL system.
*Jefferson Café, Friday, December 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This month’s article is “The English Wars: the Battle Over the Way We Should Speak,” by Joan Acocella. Copies of the articles to be discussed are available at the Library’s reference desk without charge. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Chevy Chase Chapter.
