Wisconsin Avenue Disruptions
Montgomery Lane to Bradley Boulevard. Starting yesterday, traffic on Wisconsin Avenue is reduced to one lane in each direction, 9 am – 3 pm. The project involves installing ADA-compliant sidewalks, new traffic signals and making drainage improvements. The project is expected to be complete by fall 2014. (Yes, 2014.)
Then, next spring, resurfacing work on the same half-mile stretch will get underway. That will require closing up to two lanes in each direction overnight.
Jones Bridge Road to Montgomery Avenue. Resurfacing work began on this stretch of Wisconsin Avenue in mid-August. Completion is expected this fall.
Bradley Boulevard to Western Avenue (Friendship Heights). Resurfacing began in mid-August and is expected to be complete by late fall.
For each of these two projects, up to two lanes will be closed on an as-needed basis, 8 pm – 5 am, Sundays through Thursdays.
