Free Labor Day weekend activities
Town of Kensington
Parade and festival, 10 am-3 pm. The parade starts at 10 am at St. Paul’s Street and Plyers Mill. The festival takes place along Howard and Armory avenues and includes a mix of family entertainment: live music, arts and crafts, food and activities for kids.
Paint the Town art exhibit and sale, Saturday and Sunday 11 am-5 pm, Monday, 9:30 am-5:30 pm at Kensington town hall/armory, 3710 Mitchell Street.
This annual show and sale, presented by the
Montgomery Art Association and the Town of
Kensington, is a plein air contest. On Saturday, artists
have from sun-up to 3 pm to paint a scene. Judges
choose the winners, who will be presented with
awards at a reception from 6-7:30 pm.
Glen Echo Park
43rd annual Labor Day art show in the Spanish Ballroom, noon-6 pm. Works include sculpture, painting and drawing, ceramics, glass, jewelry, photography, textiles, furniture and works on paper. Most will be available for purchase. Free reception on Friday, 7-9 pm will include many of the artists.
Yellow Barn drawing exhibition, noon-5 pm. Free reception Monday, September 2, 5-6:30 pm.
Irish music and dance showcase in the bumper car pavilion, 1-6 pm.
