New Parks in Bethesda’s Future

As part of its consideration in revising the existing Bethesda Downtown Plan, yesterday county planners presented two concepts for two new parks in Bethesda. The first concept would  create a new green space directly across from the existing Veterans Park along Woodmont Avenue, or alternatively, a pedestrian-only street on Norfolk Avenue between Woodmont and Wisconsin Avenues. The second concept would create a green space as a buffer between any development on Montgomery County parking lots and the Town of Chevy Chase. The greenway would connect to Elm Street Park.

A Planning Board team also is looking at recommendations for the empty green space across the street from Barnes & Noble, as well as converting unused parking garage rooftops in Bethesda into green space.
