On Wednesday, 02/01/17 at 4:30 PM Yoga for Youngsters:  Ages 5-10. **NOTE** for your child’s safety, we will restrict entry to children ages 5-10 and not allow admittance after 4:40. Only children (no parents) will be permitted in the room, but there will be a staff member present. Thank you for your understanding. Interested in learning yoga? Want some ways to relax or become more flexible? Just want to try something new? Come join instructor Linya Huang for this fun and gentle way to exercise. Learn poses, breathing techniques, and so much more!
On Thursday, 02/02/17 at 10:30 AM Toddler Arts and Crafts: Drop by between 10:30 am and 11:30 am for simple toddler crafts. No registration needed. 
On Friday, 02/03, 10,17 and 24 at 3:30 PM Lego Play: Drop in for an open session of Lego play on Fridays between 3:30 and 5:00 pm. Elementary age with an adult. We will provide the Legos and space, you provide the imagination. No registration needed….
On Saturday, 02/04/17 at 2:00 PM Foreign Film Series: Join us for screenings of a variety of films from around the world. Film is typically shown on the first Saturday of each month. All movies have English subtitles. Screenings will begin at 2:00 p.m. This month’s film is Persuasion (English; made in the United Kingdom).
On Monday, 02/06/17 at 4:30 PM Pages with PALS (People Animals Love): Chevy Chase Library is partnering with P.A.L. for a read to a dog program the first Monday of every month! Young readers will be able to share stories with a furry friend. Dogs will never judge or correct them, which allows them to really improve their reading skills.
On Tuesday, 02/07, 14 and 21 at 10:30 AM Toddler Time: Please join us for fun learning activities. We’ll read, sing, dance, explore and learn finger plays just right for two and three year olds.
On Wednesday, 02/08/17 at 2:00 PM Non-Fiction Book Group:  Join the group to discuss The Edge of the World: A Cultural History of the North Sea and the Transformation of Europe by Michael Pye. Copies of the book available one month before the session at the Information Desk. Registration is not required.
On Wednesday, 02/08/17 at 7:30 PM Great Books Group:  This month’s selection is Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving. Join us for an intellectually stimulating exploration of some of the greatest fiction and non-fiction works published through the ages. Registration is not required. Attendees are responsible for obtaining the material to read in advance of the discussion.  Group meets the second Wednesday each month at 7:30 pm
On Thursday, 02/09/17 at 10:30 AM Play Date at the Library: Come to the Chevy Chase Library on Thursday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 am to meet new friends and have fun with Duplos, blocks, matching and sorting games and other STEM/STEAM activities. Preschool age. No registration needed.
On Saturday, 02/11/17 at 11:00 AM Chinese New Year Lion Dance: Join us at 11am to celebrate the Chinese New Year with a Lion Dance performance by the Chinese Youth Club of Washington, DC.
On Thursday, 02/16 and 23 at 10:30 AM Play Date at the Library: Come to the Chevy Chase Library on Thursday mornings from 10:30 -11:30 am to meet new friends and have fun with Duplos, blocks, matching and sorting games and other STEM/STEAM activities. Preschool age. No registration needed.
On Thursday, 02/16/17 at 7:00 PM Family Story Time: Please join us from 7:00-7:30pm for fun learning activities. We’ll read, sing, dance, explore and learn finger plays for the whole family. No registration needed.
On Friday, 02/17/17 at 10:30 AM Jefferson Café: This month’s article will be There’s No Such Thing as Free Will by Stephen Cave. We hope everyone will feel comfortable participating. The group is fairly small so that everyone can see and hear everyone else while seated around a table. Copies of the articles to be discussed will be available without charge on the holds shelf at the library.
On Saturday, 02/18/17 at 10:30 AM Saturday Family Storytime: Please join us from for fun learning activities. We’ll read, sing, dance, explore and learn finger plays for the whole family. No registration needed. This is a repeat of the Thursday evening program
On Saturday, 02/18/17 at 1:00 PM Board and Card Games Group: Join us for board and card games at the Chevy Chase Library on the third Saturday of each month for January, February and March 2017. Games for this session are TBD. If you’re experienced or a complete beginner, drop in and have some fun
On Wednesday, 02/22/17 at 2:00 PM Fiction Memoir and Biography Book Group: Join the group to discuss All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. Copies of the book are made available one month before the session, at the Information Desk. Registration is not required
On Saturday, 02/25/17 at 11:00 AM John Henry, the Guitar Playing Man: Celebrate Library Lover’s Month with us at a fun family event featuring John Henry, the Guitar Playing Man. John Henry will allow children and families to explore the world of music and instruments as they sing, dance, and play in this fun show.
On Monday, 02/27/17 at 5:00 PM Pokeclub: Join us for this fun monthly program! We will learn more about our favorite pocket monsters, their origins and more! Earn badges, meet friends, have fun! For ages 6 and up, no registration needed.
